Police blame 11-year-old's rape on her 'promiscuity'

Who's to blame when two or three adult men rape an 11-year-old girl?

Well, that's obvious, surely.

Nope! In fact, according to the police, Danielle Hicks-Best, the victim, was to blame because she was promiscuous.

There are two obvious problems with this:

1) An 11-year-old can't consent to sex under law
2) You can be as promiscuous as you want, it doesn't grant any man the right to rape you.

Promiscuity is about choosing to have consensual sex with as many people as you want. Rape is about someone choosing to have sex with you, against your will.

And she was ELEVEN. If she was being 'promiscuous' (and obviously that's a big if), that indicates repeated abuse, not consent. 11 year olds cannot consent to sex.
